What's New

The NSW SRC Inc AGM was held on 19 September 2008 at the Drag-ens HRC Clubrooms in Sydney. Thanks to the Drag-ens HRC for use of the rooms and assistance on the night.
The outcomes will be in the 'Outcomes' section soon.

The NSW SRC Inc, together with the ASRF NSW DC, represented NSW Rodders at a meeting with the RTA in August 2008 regarding jurisdictional/administrative barriers to implementation of the National Code of Practice. No progress was made at this meeting, but follow-up is planned.

The NSW SRC Inc has represented NSW Rodders at two ASRF National TAC Conferences in 2006 and one in 2007. Representatives Neil Pope and Emmanuel Cambourakis reported that the NSW SRC Inc made positive contributions at both meetings, and are excited by the renewed energy in the ASRF for National Registration and TAC matters generally. After all, without registration there is no 'street' in Street Rodding!

In May 2006 the NSW RTA finally endorsed the Conditional Registration system for Street rods in NSW. Currently (Sept 2006) we have over 150 Street Rods on conditional registration, administered ny the NSW SRC Inc. This was the culmination of three years hard work by NSW SRC members. Notable, is the fact that this is the only Conditional registration scheme in NSW for heavily modified and individually constructed vehicles. The only reason this exists is because the NSW SRC Inc has been successfully administering the old 'Street Rod Permit Scheme' since 1977.

In November 2005 the DOTRs (http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/road/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx) exhibited the final draft of the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP). Neil Pope made a submission on this document; however unfortunately , the majority of the input was ignored. To date (September 2006) is is unclear how the NSW jurisdiction will implement the NCOP. Similarly, it is unclear how, or if the NSW jurisdiction will implement the NCOP for Street Rods http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/road/bulletin/street_rod.aspx
